As much as many of us need the relaxation and the fun, Memorial Day is not only a day for great BBQs, wonderful friends and festive times on both land and water. Memorial Day is a day set aside to honor those men and women who died as well as survived while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Formerly known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, the day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. Many of us honor those who are still living with love and special fortitude as we celebrate all that they sacrificed.
This Memorial Day, strike up the grill, get the pool gear handy and begin the unofficial start to your summer… and perhaps you can take the time to say “Thank You” to those men and women who took it upon themselves to fight and preserve the freedoms we enjoy and relish.
Thank you to you, our heroes for your bravery, courage and love for this country. We love you and truly appreciate you and all that you sacrificed.
